Pottsville Man Arrested for Assault Outside City Hall


A Pottsville man remains locked up in Schuylkill County after an assault outside city hall last week.
 
According to Pottsville Police, on Wednesday May 29, 2024, around 8:40pm, Tyler Porter, 33 of Pottsville, approached a 63-year-old man on the sidewalk next to the Pottsville City Hall parking lot and began to assault the victim.

Porter aggressively walked towards the victim then began running and punch him in the face knocking him unconscious, causing him to fall the the ground. The victim fell to the ground striking the concrete with a loud thud that could be heard on a surveillance camera almost 30 feet away. 

The victim was transported by Pottsville EMS to the Lehigh Valley Health Network Schuylkill East Campus where he was treated for his injuries.

The entire incident was caught on video surveillance and Porter admitted to striking the victim and the investigation revealed that neither party knew each other.

Pottsville Police charged Porter with aggravated assault and simple assault.

Porter was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Andrew Serina and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $100,000 straight cash bail.

He remains locked up in prison with a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 24th, 2024, before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley.
