Leo J. Lesisko
of New Ringgold passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in the St. Luke's Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale, surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Hadesty) Lesisko to whom he was married for 63 years.

Born in East Mauch Chunk on September 29, 1928, Leo was the son of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Guydish) Lesisko. A 1946 graduate of Mauch Chunk High School, he was the manager of the Jim Thorpe and Tamaqua Acme Markets for over 36 years. Leo was a member of St. John XXIII Catholic Church and the former St. Jerome Catholic Church in Tamaqua. He was an active member and officer in Rotary, was a part of their Golden Anniversary celebration, and was also a member of the East End Fire Company of Tamaqua.

Leo enjoyed camping with his family and friends at Tobyhanna State Park, was an avid Notre Dame football fan, and attended many games at South Bend. Upon retiring from the Acme Markets, he frequently had the opportunity to travel to Germany. Leo enjoyed striking up conversations everywhere he went. Later, he opened a delicatessen on Mauch Chunk Street in Tamaqua. Leo loved to cook and would often be selected to prepare the food at family reunions. He volunteered at Copeechan Fish & Game Club in Schnecksville and at the Men’s Brotherhood of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua where he and “kitchen crew” served many funeral dinners for Tamaqua and surrounding areas.

Leo was known for his special sauce and chicken which everyone requested. Even during his volunteering, he still found time to watch his granddaughters and enjoyed taking them to many places when he had to buy food for dinners. Leo also helped for years with the bookwork for his wife’s store, Nan-Lee’s Fine Apparel, in Tamaqua.

Later in life, he enjoyed viewing the stock market daily and mowing his lawn. Above all, Leo was enormously proud of his family.

In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by three sons, Thomas and his wife Christine of New Ringgold, Lee and his wife Jennifer of Kresgeville, and Jon and his wife Michelle of Hebron, Connecticut; granddaughters, Noelle Stidham and her husband Jay, and Sarah Hollenbach and her husband Nick; great grandchildren, Matthew, Eli, and Emma; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Paul, and three sisters, Lorraine Reinstein, Sister Vera, and Maryann Jones.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and administration of Maple Shade Meadows and the 5th floor of St. Lukes, Miners Campus for the excellent care and service that they provided to Leo.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 22, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Call from 6-8 PM on Friday and from 10-11 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
