Joseph "Butch" Miller, 79, of Boston Run and recently Delano, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19th, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville with his family and his beloved wife Bernadine at his side.Butch was born in Mahanoy City, PA on November 23, 1944, a son of the late Evelyn (Davidson) and Joseph Miller. He was a graduate of the Mahanoy City High School class of 1962.
Directly after high school he served in the PA Army National Guard. Butch was a general laborer all his life but had a great love of construction and woodcrafts. He retired from the Mahanoy Township Water Authority which was his second home. Butch was a long-time staple of Mahanoy City and could be found many days sitting on the bench with his friends at the food store.
He was a member of St. Clair Wade United Methodist Church St. Clair.
In addition to his wife Bernadine (Shustack), Joseph is survived by his 3 children; Kelly, wife of Samuel Slimmer, of Fountain Springs; Brad and fiancée Angela Harding of Gilberton; and Leah and fiancé Chris Nefos, of Delano.
He is also survived by his adored grandchildren Aiden, Kenna, Gage, Jacob, Tanner, Dalila, Ellianna, and Izabella; and his sister Joy Lazer of Delano along with many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. Mahanoy City, PA, at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, June 26th, with Rev. Jack Murray officiating.

Jennie L. Jeffries, 95, a resident of The Gardens at York Terrace, Pottsville, formerly of Frackville, passed away June 11, 2024.
Born in Hockensock, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine Touchinsky Slotcavage. She attended Mahanoy City Schools.
Jennie was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Frackville and was a devoted pierogie maker; she assisted in many church activities. Jennie also volunteered at the Frackville food bank for many years.
Jennie worked at the former Charles Rabin Factory, Frackville and last worked as a waitress for the former Kerlavage Bar and Restaurant.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years John W. Jeffries, in 2013; her daughter; Patricia “Pat” Wagner; April 29, 2024; one of twelve children, she was preceded in death by 9 siblings.
Jennie is survived by a son; John J. Jeffries and wife Patty of Barnesville; grandchildren; Craig Wagner and wife Jennifer of Ashland; Tara Hughes and husband Fred of Gordon and Maddison Jeffries; three great-grandchildren; Alec Bolinsky, Tristan Bolinsky and Scott Wagner; a sister; Elizabeth Schaar and brother; Richard Slotcavage; several nieces and nephews.
Religious Services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville. with Rev. Giuseppe C. Esposito as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with family from 11:30 till time of Service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Thomas A. Santai, 79, of Spring Glen, originally from MarLin passed away on Thursday, June 20, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.
Born on January 29, 1945 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary (Bettinger) Santai. He was a 1962 graduate of Nativity B.V.M. High School and attended Penn State. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in Germany as a Sargeant. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he was accepted into the PA State Police Academy and graduated in 1969. During his tenure with the PA State Police, he served as Dauphin County Fire Marshall and a Criminal Investigator. He was honored as State Trooper of the Year in 1987. After retirement, he provided security services at the former Ashland Regional Medical Center and Keystone Landfill.
He was a member of Most Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Tremont.
Tom is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Catherine A, Novak; two daughters, Dr. Catherine Santai of Camp Hill and Bernadine McNamara (spouse, Kevin) of Minersville; seven grandchildren, Alexander, Xavier and Manny Gassis, Connor, Bennett, Lukas and Finley McNamara. He is also survived by two siblings, Mary Washko, Chadds Ford, and James Santai, MarLin; nieces and nephews.
The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 8 A.M. Visitation will end promptly at 10:30 A.M. when procession will form. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. in Most Blessed Trinity Parish, 113 Cherry Street, Tremont. Committal services with military honors will be held at 2:30 P.M. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Nativity Preservation Support Foundation, One Lawtons Hill, Pottsville, PA 17901 or by visiting www.preservenativity.org.
