June Miller Zimmerman Marsicano
, 101, of Pine Grove, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, in Providence Place, Pine Grove.

Born on April 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Mabel (Miller) Zimmerman and Frank Zimmerman.

She graduated from Pine Grove High School in 1940. On May 1, 1943, she married John Marsicano, who passed away in 1990. June worked for FoxKnapp for many years. She later assisted her husband at his businesses.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Shoener of Louisiana, MO; six grandchildren: Sue (Tony) Salisbury, Waynesboro PA; Jeffrey (Jill) Shoener, Dover PA; Holly (Kurt) Russell, Louisiana, MO; Heather (Craig) Houp, Reading PA; Michael (Lauren) Shoener, Kansas City MO; Jonathan (Ashley) Shoener, Columbia MO.

She is also survived by nine great grandchildren: Ryan, Curtis, Daniel, Jay, Hannah, Marie, Calynn, Ellis and Matthew; and three great-great grandchildren: Ryder, Reid, and Turner. She was also predeceased by 2 infant brothers and her son-in-law, J. Allan Shoener. June was a Protestant by faith.

All services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation to a charity of your choice in June’s memory.

The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry J. Metz, 80, of Pottsville, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 in the Green Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born on September 1, 1943 in Olean, NY, he was a son of the late Gerald and Isabel Hastings Metz.

He graduated from Bolivar High School.

Jerry was an Army Veteran having served in Korea during the Vietnam Era. His last duty assignment was HHC 2d Bn 13th Armor 1st ARmd Div. at Fort Hood, TX. He received the Marksman, Mechanic Badge w/ Bar and the National Defense Service Medal.

Jerry was a maintenance worker at Penn National Race Track in Grantville, PA.

Preceding him in death were his brother and sister-in-law, Gregory and Connie Metz.

Surviving are his niece, Amber and husband Jeremy Hockenberry of Beaver Springs; great nephew, Tyler Hockenberry; two great nieces; and his extended family, Adam and Lilly Yordy of Pine Grove.

Graveside Services and interment will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 12:30 P.M. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with Pastor Barry Spatz officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions may be made to Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Inc.,1013 Mumma Rd. Suite 203, Wormleysburg, PA 17043 in his memory.

Carolyn C. Carvalho
, 76, of Orwigsburg, passed away Saturday, June 29th, at Seton Manor.

Carolyn was born in Pottsville on September 11, 1947, a daughter of the late Cecelia B. (Yarish) and William J. Pflueger, Sr.

She was a Blue Mountain High School Graduate, class of 1965 and worked as a health care aide, at Hamburg Center, for over 35 years. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her Bichons Casey , Kelly and Kylie.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Stacy Teter Tervo and her partner Marty of Schuylkill Haven,

She is also survived by her grandaughters Jillian and Hannah Tervo as well as her nephew Jeffrey Pflueger.

She was predeceased by her brothers James E. and William J. Pflueger, Jr. and nephew Jerry Pflueger
A Religious Service will be held July 5, 2024 at 11 AM at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc, Orwigsburg. The public is invited to call from 9 AM until the time of service. intermittent will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Lucille Markowski Pulaski
, 78, of Frackville, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown with her family by her side.

Born in Frackville, October 19, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Edward G. and Adelle T. Pratcavage Markowski, Sr.

She was a graduate of the former Immaculate Heart Academy, Fountain Springs, class of 1963.

Lucille was devoted to her faith and was a member of the Restoration Fellowship Ministries, Shenandoah. She was very active in many of the church activities and functions.

Lucille last worked as a Teacher’s Aide for special needs children, at Child Development; she previously worked as a secretary for the former Metropolitan Mirror and Glass Company and was also a clerk at Hallmark Gift Shop, Schuylkill Mall, both of Frackville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers; Edward G. Jr.; Thomas and Gerald E. Markowski.

Lucille is survived by her husband of 53 years Jospeh Pulaski, Frackville; daughter; Dominica Egan and husband Martin, Moodus, Conn; two sons; Joseph Matthew Pulaski, Port Matilda; and Jason A Pulaski and wife Nicole, Exton; grandchildren; Brennen C. Egan; Carinna E. Egan and Caden E. Pulaski; sisters; Millie C. Helt, Blue Bell; Rita Sauers, Levittown and Bernardine M. Bolinsky and husband Anthony, Frackville; several nieces and nephews

Religious Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville, with Minister Lauren Boorujy, as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 10:00 a.m. till time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be private in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Frackville.
