The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after a body was found near Jim Thorpe on Monday.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton, on Monday, July 1st, 2024, around 12:30pm, Troopers from the Lehighton Criminal Investigation Unit were requested to assume a death investigation.
The body was discovered in the Lehigh River in the area of Jim Thorpe.
Late Monday, State Police identified the victim as Felix Dejesus, 33, of Jim Thorpe. Dejesus was previously reported as a missing endangered person by the Jim Thorpe Police Department.
State Police say the investigation into the death is ongoing but there is no public safety concerns or danger to the community.
