Frackville Clinches Schuylkill Teener League Title with Victory Over Blue Mountain



On Friday evening, the Frackville Red Team won the 2024 Schuylkill Teener League Championship over Blue Mountain White.
Friday's game was the third in a 3-game series with Frackville winning the first game 8-7 at Frackville, then Blue Mountain taking game 2 8-6 on their home field.

Blue Mountain got on the board in the first inning scoring one run.

Frackville took a commanding lead in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 5-1 lead.

Blue Mountain would score 1 in the 2nd inning and 4 in the 3rd, but Frackville continued to score big with 3 in the 2nd and 1 in the 3rd.

By the end of the 3rd, Frackville lead 8-6.

Frackville continued scoring 2 more in the 5th and 1 more in the 6th, winning the game, series, and championship 12-6.

Frackville's starting pitcher Mark Monahan allowed seven hits and six runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking three. Brody Noraka and Max Gallagher pitched the final three innings.

Blue Mountain's Lucas Pritiskutch pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up five runs on five hits, striking out one and walking two.

Frackville tallied 14 hits in the game. Kolton Joyce, Joey Groody, and Aaron Brayford each collected three hits.

Noraka and Groody each drove in three runs. Carson Wetzel collected two hits for Frackville in four at bats. Monahan led Frackville with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Brayford stole three bases. Frackville tallied seven stolen bases.

Blue Mountain piled up 10 hits in the game. Preston Whalen, Huben, and Kirby each collected two hits.

Strause led Blue Mountain White with two runs batted in.

Blue Mountain collected 10 walks for the game. Ethan Hartman, Tyler Bensinger, and Brady Strause led the team with two bases on balls each.

In a story that was only fitting, Frackville took home the inaugural John Chuma Teener League Championship trophy.

The trophy is named after Chuma who spent decades coaching the Frackville Teener League Team.

Frackville Coach Knute Brayford spoke to the team after winning the championship, "If Coach Chuma was here today, he would give you all the credit, you buckled down today, you played great today and you deserve it.  You did it for coach but celebrate yourselves."
