Frackville's Holy Ascension Orthodox Church to Host Vehicle Blessings This Sunday

Holy Ascension Orthodox Church in Frackville invites the community to join in a vehicle blessing event on Sunday, July 21st.

Following the celebration of Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m., the church will hold its annual blessing of vehicles, a tradition observed on the feast day of the Prophet Elijah.

This year’s event coincides with the Archpastoral visit of His Eminence, Archbishop Mark, Archbishop of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania. His Eminence will serve as the main celebrant for the Divine Liturgy, alongside the parish’s new rector and native of the Coal Region, Fr. Kirill Zawatski.

The vehicle blessings will take place immediately after the Divine Liturgy, around 11:30 a.m. Representatives from Frackville’s local first-responders, as well as from neighboring towns in Schuylkill County, have been invited to have their service vehicles blessed.

"All are welcome to participate in this beautiful tradition of the Church," said Fr. Kirill Zawatski, rector of Holy Ascension Orthodox Church. "We are also honored to host our Archpastor, His Eminence Archbishop Mark, and look forward to sharing this blessed feast day tradition with our community.”

The Holy Ascension Orthodox Church is located at 209 S. Lehigh Ave, Frackville, PA 17931.
