Two people were injured in a crash on Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township early Wednesday.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred just before 2:30am when Seamus Ridgeway, 28, of Scranton was driving his Nissan Sentra and entered Interstate 81 northbound from the Mahanoy City on ramp.
Ridgeway attempted to enter the interstate at a high rate of speed and lost control. He crossed both northbound lanes of traffic and into the media where he struck a large sign pole.
Both Ridgeway and his passenger, Stefanie Bamrick, 39, of Mahanoy City were injured in the crash, with Bamrick's injuries being listed as serious.
Bamrick was transported to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest for her injuries.
