Mahanoy Township officially has a new chief of police.
On Thursday evening, the Mahanoy Township Board promoted Harry Brown as the Township's Chief of Police.
Brown has been the Officer in Charge since previous Chief Brian Johnson vacated the position in December. Brown has been working for Mahanoy Township for 2 years and has been a police officer for 10 years.
On Friday, Chief Brown was officially sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker in Shenandoah.
