On Thursday, the North Schuylkill School District officially announced it will provide free breakfast and lunch during the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
In a letter to parents, Superintendent Dr. Robert Ackell wrote "This year, we are thrilled to announced that all students in our District will receive free breakfast and lunch each school day. We believe that providing nutritious meals is essential to supporting our students' academic success and overall well-being."
Students will be to purchase a second meal or a la carte items at normal price.
At the start of the school year, the district cafeterias will be managed by a new food service company, Metz Food.
