Pennsylvania Attorney General Seeks Information in Case of Former Tamaqua Police Officer Accused of Child Sex Crimes

The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office is looking to speak with anyone that may have had an inappropriate contact with a former Tamaqua Police Office.

In May, Christopher Cordes, 27, of Bloomsburg, was arrested by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office on the charges Sexual contact with a minor, Unlawful contact with a minor, Child pornography, disseminating photography of child sexual acts, disseminating explicit sexual material of a minor, Criminal use of a communication facility, Sexual intercourse with an animal, Conspiracy to disseminate photography of child sexual acts, Conspiracy to possess child pornography.

The charges stem from Cordes' alleged use of a Snapchat account. Cordes was also employed as a Police Officer for the borough of Tamaqua.

Cordes was suspended without pay for conduct unbecoming of a police officer and later fired.

Cordes was locked up in Columbia County Prison on $250,000 straight cash bail and later released after posting bail.

The charges above were bound over for trial following a preliminary hearing.

Considering the defendant’s former employment as a Tamaqua Borough police officer, he would have had proximity and contact with minors in the area.

The Office of Attorney General is asking anyone who may have information about inappropriate interactions or contact involving Christopher Cordes to contact the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section at 1-800-385-1044.
