Prospective applicants can obtain application forms from the Police Records office on the first floor of Pottsville City Hall, located at 401 N. Centre Street.
The office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additionally, electronic forms can be requested by emailing your Name, Address, and Date of Birth to policechief@pottsvillepa.gov.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completed applications in hard copy form must be submitted to the Police Records clerk by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024. Only those who have submitted their properly completed applications by the deadline will be eligible to participate in the hiring process.
Applicants who pass the written examination, as determined by the Civil Service Commission, will advance to the next stages of the hiring process. These stages include physical fitness testing, medical and psychological examinations, an oral interview, and a comprehensive background investigation.
The City of Pottsville offers a competitive salary and benefits package, with a starting salary of $67,522.10 and full medical insurance from the date of hire. There are ongoing negotiations between the city and the FOP to implement 12-hour shift rotations in 2025.
