Pottsville's Terrell McFarland brought home the gold medal for Team USA in the 80 kg men’s beach wrestling at the U17 Pan American Championship held at Coral Costa Caribe Beach Resort in Santo Domingo.
McFarland dominated the competition, finishing with a flawless 5-0 record, with each victory achieved by technical stoppage. In the gold medal match, he triumphed over Maycki Flores Ayala of Peru with a score of 3-1.
McFarland's recent success builds on his impressive wrestling achievements. He placed in both the U17 and U20 divisions at the 2024 Carolina Beach Nationals, claiming the U20 championship and a bronze medal at the U17 level. Additionally, he earned the title of Junior Greco-Roman state champion in Pennsylvania earlier this year.
Terrell s also a 2-time U15 Pan American Gold Medal winner in 2021 and 2022 taking gold at both Freestyle and Greco wrestling.
