Schuylkill County Fair Opens Today: A Week of Agriculture, Entertainment, and Fun

 


SUMMIT STATION - The anticipated 2024 Schuylkill County Fair will kick off on Monday, July 29th, under this year's theme, "Flourishing In Opportunity, Rooted in Agriculture" at the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds in Summit Station.

Thousands of locals and visitors will gather at the fairgrounds to enjoy a week-long extravaganza of agriculture, entertainment, and fun-filled activities.

Preparations were underway this past weekend as entries were dropped off on Saturday and Judging took place on Sunday.  Animal handlers were also bringing in livestock and setting up final preparations for the week.

The fair officially opens its gates to the public at 4 PM, Monday. The event's theme on the opening day was "Pulling Day," sponsored by M&T Bank.

The Queen/Princess Contest will also begin at 4 PM, followed by the Royalty Crowning at 6 PM. Meanwhile, the Dairy Judging Contest will take place, recognizing the best of dairy excellence from our area. But the highlight of the evening will be 4x4 Diesel/Gas Truck Pull and Street Semi's event on the track, sponsored by J.C. Hill Tree Farm. 

The New Individuals will take the stage to close out day 1 for two performances, one at 7:00pm, and another at 9:00pm.

Tuesday, July 30th: Kids Day

Sponsored by Mystic Screen Printing & Embroidery, Tuesday will be all about the young ones. The fair will open at 11 AM, and families will get to enjoy the various activities. Kids contests will be held every half an hour, keeping the little ones entertained throughout the day.

The Kids' Area will be abuzz with excitement during the Pedal Tractor Pull. And as the sun began to set, the East Coast Pro Pulling LLC take center stage with an adrenaline-pumping display of strength and power.

Rising Nashville Star Jenny Grace will close the night at the main state will two performances (7:00pm & 9:00pm).

Wednesday, August 31st: Schuylkill Co. Day

The Schuylkill County Commissioners will sponsor Wednesday's events, which will begin at 4:00pm with the Celebrity Tractor Pull scheduled to start at 5:30pm and the Farm Stock Pulls scheduled for 7:00pm. 

If you are a fan of Boilo, don't forget about the Boilo Contest at 7:30pm.

And to end the night, Jimmy Holmes with the Spin-Outs, an Elvis Tribute, will perform at 7:00pm and 9:00pm.

Thursday, August 1st: Senior Appreciation Day

Sponsored by the Hometown Farmers Marker, Thursday will celebrate seniors with a heartwarming welcome at 11 AM. The afternoon will be dedicated to the 4-H/FFA Livestock Auctions & Awards, showcasing the achievements of young agricultural enthusiasts. Later in the evening, the Corn Hole Tournament will take place on the track.

The Amish Outlaws, will close the night at the main state will two performances (7:00pm & 9:00pm).

Friday, August 2nd: Military and First Responders Day

Honoring the brave servicemen and women and our First Responders, the fair will open at 4 PM. 

A special Color Guard Presentation of the Flag will take place at 6:00pm

Animal lovers can enjoy watching the Animal Obstacle Course in the Show Ring, while the Ag Arena will host the DJ Chicken Nugget Line Dancing session.

Jeremiah James with Augustus Scott & the Revival will close the night at the main state will two performances (7:00pm & 9:00pm).


Saturday, August 3rd: Friends of the Fair Day

The fair will officially open at 11:0am with a variety of activities including the Antique Tractor Pull at 10:00am, 4-H/FFA Master Showman Contest at 11:00am and Livestock Judging at 3:00pm.

Porcupine Pat will also host a presentation called "Ways of Wildlife".

The Mahoney Brothers will close out the night and the fair on the main stage at 7:00pm and 9:00pm.
