Melvin Z. Bretz, 73, of S. Goodspring Rd., Hegins, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

Born on October 15, 1950 in New Cumberland, he was a son of the late Franklin German and Naomi Zerbe Bretz and husband Ernest Bretz.

He was a 1968 graduate of Pine Grove High School.

Melvin was a laborer and most recently worked for Waste Management.

He had been a member of the Hegins Jaycees. He loved to collect cars, especially mustangs and liked to work on junk cars. Two specific vehicles that he had and worked on were a wrecker and a rollback. He also liked old westerns, especially John Wayne, watching wrestling on tv and cooking on the grill.

Preceding him in death were his granddaughter, Holly Ann Madenford; his twin brother, Franklin Z. Bretz on May 4, 2024 and his wife Carol on July 10, 2024; and two sisters, Lorna Mae Bretz and Ona Renee Shartle.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Cathy Reinoehl Bretz; a daughter, Amy and husband Scott Dawson of Pine Grove; a granddaughter, Misty and husband Josh Krammes of Pine Grove; two sisters, Zora and husband Wendell Fabian of Wexford, Cora and husband John Shenk of Pine Grove; nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. from the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, with John Ries officiating. There will be a visitation on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Salem Hetzel's Cemetery, Pine Grove.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Hegins Area Ambulance Association, 352 Gap St., Valley View, Pa. 17983 in his memory.

Kimberly Eiche Parry
, 59 of Frackville passed away on Wednesday July 10th, 2024, at Schuylkill Medical Center East Norwegian Street.

Kim was born on October 30th 1964 in Pottsville. She was the daughter of Barbara Beacher Eiche and the late Edward Eiche of Frackville.

Kim graduated from the former Cardinal Brennan high School. Kim also had and Associates degree from McCann’s School of Business in Medical Billing and Coding.

Kim last worked transporting students to the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 as a van driver. She also worked as a Teacher’s Aid within the IU 29 facility.

Proceeding her in death in addition to her father was her spouse, William “Bill” Parry Jr.

Kim is survived by in addition to her mother, two sons, William Parry III and his wife Stephanie of Shenandoah, and Edward Parry and his wife Allysa of Girardville, three grandchildren Iris, Skyla, and Liam. Along with many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Kim’s life on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 from 6-8 PM at the Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah.

In lieu of flowers, Kim’s family will accept donations to help defray funeral expenses.

The Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.

Joseph “Poppa Joe” Kelly
, 53, of Coal Township formerly Ashland passed away Thursday evening July 11, 2024, at home.

Born on December 16, 1970 in Ashland he was the son of Mary E. (Fetterolf) Towey and the late Francis J. Towey Jr.

Joe was the wife of Kellyann (Bendas) Kelly, they were married April 29, 2000.

Joe graduated from North Schuylkill High School in 1988. Joe was currently employed as a heavy equipment operator for TJ McAndrew Excavating in Frackville.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and working on Harleys.

He is preceded in death by; father Francis “Frank” J. Towey Jr. (2023); brother Shawn P. Kelly (1995); brother Frankie J. Towey Jr. (2011); 2 cats Sassy & Daytona.

Joe is survived by; mother Mary E. Towey, Ashland; spouse Kellyann Kelly, Coal Township; daughter Amber Kelly, Coal Township; son Ryan Kelly, Coal Township; daughter Jasmine Moroskie (Tyler), Elysburg; sister Susan Towey (Jim McGraw), Gordon; “sister” Ruth Ann Shilling (Kevin), Ashland; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins; 3 cats Primrose, Cali & Remmy.

A memorial service will be held on Friday July 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30-11:00 AM Friday morning prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the family’s convenience.

Ann E. Beury, 68, of Dutchtown, Ashland, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. 

The Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, will announce funeral arrangements.

Robert M. "Beasley" Yarnell
, 43 of Pottsville died Friday at home.

He was born September 25, 1980, a son of Thomas and Anne Marie Gall Yarnell, Pottsville.

He was a 1999 graduate of Pottsville Area High School and attended many technical schools.

Most recently Beasley was working as a general contractor prior to that he was employed by Sands Ford, Pottsville.

Beasley was a member of the former Mary Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville and St. Clair Fish and Game. He was also a die-hard Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.

Beasley was a loving son and brother, a kindhearted friend that would help out anyone and a hard worker.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother Tom Yarnell, Pottsville; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday July 19th at Noon from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10AM until the time of services. Interment will follow in Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Pottsville.
