Robert Paul Bensinger, 86, of Tamaqua, passed away Sunday, July 28th, at Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg.

Born in Walker Township, PA on June 16, 1938, he was a son of the late Paul R. & Esther D. (Amour) Bensinger.

Robert was a Tamaqua High School graduate, and later served in the U.S. Army.

He attended Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church, Lewistown Valley.

Robert was formerly employed by Zulick's, as well as Walk In Shoe Co., of Schuylkill Haven.

Robert is survived by his brother, Wayne, husband of Gloria Bensinger, of Tamaqua, nephews: Byron, companion of Anna, & Bruce, companion of Susan, and several great-nieces & great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 2nd at Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven. A viewing will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service.

Interment will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Nicole M. Lavoie
, 48, of Summit Hill, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospice Home in Bethlehem.

Born in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late John Tonkin and Maxine Houser. A graduate of Panther Valley High School, Nicole worked as a CNA at the Hometown Nursing Home and enjoyed caring for her cats and dogs. 

She is survived by sons, Jay Tonkin of New Hampshire and Kenneth Lavoie and his wife Tiffany also of New Hampshire; daughters, Katalyna Henninger and her husband Nicholas of Summit Hill and Charisma Wagner also of Summit Hill; brothers, John Tonkin, Jr. and his wife Shawn of Lehighton and George Tonkin of Minnesota; a sister, Kathy Tonkin of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Victor and Harper Lavoie and Maddie and Waylon Tonkin, and one on the way. 

Nicole was predeceased in death by her brother Harry Tonkin who passed away in 2016. 

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. 

Arrangements are being handled by the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation services, Inc., Tamaqua.

Arlene Ann Lickman, 86, of Pottsville passed away peacefully on Saturday while a resident of The Gardens at York Terrace Nursing Home in Pottsville.

Born in Norristown, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth Berger

Arlene was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School. She then went on to become a Nurse’s Aide. She worked at Hamburg Nursing Center for many years.

She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in St. Clair.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Kilkenny and a grandson, Tristan both residing in England. She is survived by her sister, Rayann Mohl, wife of Craig of Pottsville along with her children, Craig, Alex, and Amber. She is also survived by her brother Duane Berger, Reading

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Joan Zaprazny and Sharon McIlevee.

A viewing will be held on Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven, until the time of services. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Micky McDemus officiating. Interment will follow services on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
