A truck driver was seriously injured in a crash on Friday in Tremont Township, Schuylkill County.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred around 9:40am on Gold Mine Road, south of Tower City.
Police report that Rene Fernandez Rivera, 46, of New Brunswick, NJ was driving north on Gold Mine Road in a Volvo Tractor Trailer at a high rate of speed when he lost control on a left turn, flipping the truck and trailer onto its side, hitting a utility pole, embankment, and tree.
Fernandez Rivera was heavily trapped inside the vehicle. Once freed from the vehicle, he was transported to a Life Lion helicopter and flown to Hershey Medical Center with serious injuries.
State Police say Fernandez Rivera will be cited for careless driving for the crash.
