Upcoming Event: Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society to Host Presentation Meeting on Pottsville Maroons
The Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society is set to host a presentation meeting on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024, at 6:30 PM that will delve into the historical controversy surrounding the 1925 Pottsville Maroons, marking the 100th anniversary of their disputed NFL Championship.
Attendees will hear about the Maroons' remarkable season and the subsequent denial of their championship title after they played an exhibition game against Notre Dame. Despite defeating the Chicago Cardinals earlier, the title was controversially awarded to the Cardinals.
The guest speaker for the evening will be Diana Prosymak, from the Schuylkill County Historical Society, Museum, and Gift Shop. Ms. Prosymak will enrich the presentation with a slideshow.
