The Pennsylvania State Police at Jonestown have released details on the crash that killed a woman on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County.
According to State Police, the crash occurred on Interstate 81 northbound near mile marker 98.3 in Pine Grove Township just before 4:00pm.
Police say the crash occurred when David Wolfkeil, 69, of Niceville, FL was traveling northbound in a Kia Sportage and began to change from the right to the left lane. While changing lanes, the front end of his vehicle struck the rear end of a Nissan Kicks. A third vehicle, a Hyundai Sonata was unable to stop and hit the rear end of Wolfkeil's Kia. The Nissan continued forward and struck the rear end of a Honda Civic. The Honda then struck a Pontiac.
The Kia, Nissan, Hyundai, and Honda all sustained disabling damage. The Pontiac was driven from the scene.
Wolfkeil was reported to have sustained injuries and was transported to Hershey Medical Center.
Wolfkeil's passenger, Jennifer Perez-Wolfkeil, 66, also of Niceville, FL, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene by the Schuylkill County Coroner's Office.
The identity of the other driver's involved and their injuries were not released.
