Woman in Critical Condition and Flown to Hospital After Crash in Minersville


One person was flown to the hospital and another injured in a crash in Minersville on Friday morning.

According to Minersville Police Chief Jeffrey Bowers, the crash occurred Friday morning around 9:00am in the area of Sunbury Road and River Street.

The initial dispatch was for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. 

Chief Bowers said a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck was traveling west on the Seltzer Highway and approaching a small bus owned by Geisinger Health. The Ram truck failed to stop and collided with the bus at a high rate of speed, pushing the bus approximately 22 feet into the intersection and trapping a 85-year-old female in the front passenger seat. 

The driver, an 86-year-old male suffered moderate injuries. 

The female was extricated from the Ram and flown to Geisinger Danville and listed in critical condition undergoing surgery. 

The operator of the bus was not injured.
