15-Year-Old Arrested for ATV Theft in Pottsville


A teenager was arrested over the weekend for stealing an ATV in Pottsville.

According to Pottsville Police, on Saturday, August 17th, 2024, around 8:00pm, police units were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of West Arch Street for motor vehicle theft of an ATV.

Before arrival, units were advised the victim had located his stolen red Kawasaki ATV to the rear of the Good Intent Fire Co. which is located on South 2nd St. 

Officers made contact with victim, who showed police video footage from his residence which showed a male wearing jeans and camo sweatshirt pushing the quad from the parking lot located in the 600 block of West Arch Street around 2:30pm. Footage also showed the male in the camo hoodie ask for help from unknown male to push the ATV. 

Officers were walking west in the alley way when unknown male jumped out of an open garage wearing a camo sweatshirt and blue jeans who was positively identified by the victim as the male who stole his ATV. Officers then placed the unknown male into police custody. It was there where the officers located the ATV in the open empty garage under a blue tarp.

Officers were able to locate a witness who reported the person they had in custody currently was pushing the ATV up and down North 2nd Street earlier in the day.

The suspect was identified as a 15-year-old juvenile and as the result of this investigation he will be charged with 1 count of motor vehicle theft, receiving stolen property, and possession of marijuana. Charges will be filed through the Schuylkill County Juvenile Probation Department.

The identity of the teen was not available due to him being a juvenile.
