Dave Kamp Memorial Rescheduled for Friday at Big Diamond Speedway, Featuring 'Dukes of Hazzard' Stars

Rescheduled Dave Kamp Memorial this Friday, August 9th at Big Diamond Speedway with Special Appearances from the Dukes of Hazzard TV Show
After last Friday's rainout of the Dave Kamp Memorial, the race will be made up this Friday, August 9th. Due to the change of the schedule, the winged 410 sprints have been dropped from this week’s schedule with the Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman added to the nights racing card.

The Dave Kamp Memorial race is an annual event run in the honor of a man who was dedicated to the sport of racing who called Big Diamond Speedway his home. Dave was a gentle giant of a man who was best friends with Johnny Deatrich who raced at Big Diamond from 1993 to 2004 in many divisions. Dave was a crew member for Johnny and got the itch to race himself. Dave started racing in the Roadrunner and Street Stock division and had some success winning features at Big Diamond and other local speedways. Dave always joked with his good friend Johnny that once he caught and passed Johnny’s win total, he would never let him forget it. Unfortunately, Dave was never able to get to that point. Dave was two weeks away from his 40th birthday when he was on his way to the hospital because he wasn’t feeling well only to suffer from a massive heart attack and pass away while going through a toll booth. Dave’s good friend Johnny Deatrich has gone over and above this year to provide all three divisions with many extra cash prizes on Friday night.

Making a special appearance on Friday night will be Dukes of Hazzard stars Tom Wopat (Luke Duke), Byron Cherry (Cool Duke) and Jeff Altman (Hughie Hogg) along with the classic car, the General Lee.

The Quandel Concrete Modifieds will get the party started on Friday night with a $4,000 to win feature event.
