East Union Township Police Crackdown on Off-Road Vehicles

East Union Township Police conducted an operation Saturday to address complaints received about off-road vehicles.

According to East Union Township Police, on August 17th, Police Chief Christopher Dimmick conducted an operation in Sheppton which resulted in 10 offroad vehicles being stopped for violations.

Vehicles were towed and impounded by police. Citations were filed on operators for violations such as operating an ATV on streets and highways, operating an unregistered vehicle, not displaying registration plates, and others.

Chief Dimmick says this operation was due to numerous complaints that have been received from township residents.

Complaints include offroad vehicles being operated on streets, damage to private property, noise, reckless driving and general quality of life issues.

Dimmick said "The operation of offroad vehicles on public streets is an ongoing issue affecting many communities, and police are working hard to increase enforcement of these complaints."
