Minersville Police Equipped for Critical Incidents with New Rifles

On Wednesday morning, Geissele Automatics, a manufacturer of firearms and accessories based in North Wales, Montgomery County, donated nine rifles to the Minersville Police Department.
The donation, valued at nearly $20,000, included six M4 Platform Short Barrel rifles, one for each of the department's full-time officers, and three full-size rifles, one for each of the patrol vehicles. These high-quality firearms will be used for higher-escalating incidents, such as serving warrants, standoff situations, or active shooter threats.

Jim Poole, a salesman for Geissele Automatics, explained that the company's owner, Bill Geissele, is passionate about supporting law enforcement agencies and ensuring that their officers have the best equipment available. "Bill believes in his products and wants them to get into the hands of as many police departments as we can," Poole stated.

Minersville Police Chief Jeffrey Bowers expressed his gratitude for the generous donation. "This contribution is remarkable and a testament to the professional force we have," Bowers said. "Our officers are facing people who aren't bringing sticks to a fight, and we want the highest quality for their safety."

Minersville Council President Ian Mahal echoed Bowers' sentiments, noting that the department has the third-highest call volume in Schuylkill County. "This donation will significantly enhance our officers' capabilities and ensure that they are equipped to handle any situation they may encounter," Mahal said.
