According to PennDOT, this program allows students to showcase their artistic talents while promoting a message – winter driving safety.
Students will be challenged to design an original mural on a PennDOT snowplow blade, incorporating the designated theme for 2024: "Use your reason when it's freezin'." This catchy slogan reminds drivers to be cautious during winter months, avoiding distractions, impairment, and aggressive driving, and always wearing their seatbelt.
The Paint the Plow program has been a success story since its launch in Pennsylvania back in 2015, and it's now offered in most counties across the state. Last year, Monroe County students participated in the program.
This year, students from public and private high schools in eastern Pennsylvania's District 5 region can join in on the fun. Their school officials simply need to complete an application and return it to the regional PennDOT coordinator, Sean Brown.
If you're a high school student in eastern Pennsylvania with a passion for art and road safety, this is your chance to shine. Head over to www.penndot.pa.gov/PaintthePlow for all the information you need to get involved.
