Pottsville Man Locked Up in Schuylkill County Prison for Alleged Rape


A Pottsville man is locked up in Schuylkill County for an alleged rape last week.

According to Pottsville Police, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, just after 5:00pm, City Police were dispatched by County Communications to a home in the 500 block of Pierce St. for a rape investigation.

The investigation revealed that Albert Wiggins, 67, of Pottsville became enraged with a 31-year-old female roommate because she had another male at the residence. Wiggins first told the male he had to leave the house and Wiggins then turned to the female and grabbed her by both arms and pushed her onto the bed while yelling at her. Wiggins then assaulted the female and attempted to rape her.

A criminal complaint was completed by Det. Joseph Krammes charging Albert Wiggins with attempted rape a felony of the first degree, 2 counts of aggravated indecent assault both felonies of the 2nd degree and 2 misdemeanor counts of indecent assault.

Wiggins was arraigned by on-call Judge, Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker, Shenandoah, who set Wiggins’ bail at $100,000.00 straight cash. Wiggins was unable to post bail and was placed into the custody of the Schuylkill County Prison.
