On Thursday, first responders and residents paid their respects to Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Peter K. Conforti, who passed away suddenly while off-duty on Wednesday.
Trooper Conforti, who joined the force in 2016, was a valued member of the Pennsylvania State Police L Unit in Hamburg. He was also a lifelong resident of Schuylkill County.
Yesterday, Trooper Conforti's body was transported from St. Luke's Miners Hospital in Coaldale to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest in Allentown. The procession was led by his fellow State Troopers, who accompanied him.
Around two hours before the procession, Schuylkill County First Responders were invited to line Route 209 and Route 309 in the Tamaqua area to pay their respects. As the procession left the hospital, an archway adorned with an American Flag, set up by the Rescue Hook and Ladder of Shenandoah and Coaldale Fire Companies.
Further along the route, fire apparatus and police units from various departments lined the roadways, standing in silent tribute to honor their comrade.
