Thomas Bernard Mathews, 86, a resident of Lake Wynonah, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024.

Thomas was born in Wyomissing, PA on May 22, 1938, a son of the late John and Margaret (Nagle) Mathews.

He is survived by his wife, best friend and soul mate of fifty years, the former Florence Ann Schiefer. Left to cherish his memory is son Thomas B. Mathews, Jr and daughter-in-law Freda Morehart Mathews. A daughter Michelle Mathews Lis and son-in-law Richard Lis. Granddaughter Jasmine Mathews, grandsons William and Aaron Morehart, grandson Paul Lis and wife Tracey, granddaughter Carleen Lis Wiedman and husband Jason. Great-grandchildren Emere Woods, Joshua and Matthew Lis. And a very special niece Sylvia Hovanec.

In lieu flowers, cards, etc., Thomas’s last wish was that perhaps family and friends would consider a small donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

As per Thomas’s wishes, there will be no services, with a private interment at the family gravesite. Services have been provided by the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, Ringtown.

Our dearest Staff Sergeant Isabella Azaria Ixim “Bella” passed away suddenly at the age of 27 on August 5th, 2024, at Fort Leonard Wood Military Base in Missouri.

Bella was born January 17th, 1997, in Livingston NJ to Frances Marie Trygar of New Jersey and Edin Leonel Ixim Putul of Guatemala.

After graduating from Easton Area High School in 2015, Bella joined the United States Army in 2016. She trained in engineering, deploying 2 times to Jordan and Kuwait. She served eight years ending as a Staff Sergeant. All the while doing this, she continued a leadership role being a team leader for Walmart distribution center 7030.

She loved her military career, she adored her children and having big family gatherings.

She married James Chavez in 2019. Together they have two children. She is survived by her mother Frances Trygar, her husband James Chavez, son James Jr., and daughter Aaliyah. Along with brothers and sisters- Russell Trygar, Dalilah Trygar, Victoria Ixim, Tristan De La Cruz, Alejandro Cruz, and Rio Trygar. Nieces- Serenity, Athena, and Magnolia.

She is preceded in death by her father Edin Ixim, 4 grandparents- German and Delorus Ixim Putul and Robert and Elizabeth Wallace.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 20th from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Burial with full military honors will take place at 1:00 PM in the Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa.

Kenneth R. Burke, 67, of Pine Grove, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born on February 7, 1957 in Providence, RI, he was a son of the late James L. and Theresa Y. Godin Burke.

He attended St. John's Lutheran Church, Friedensburg.

Kenneth worked as a Welder and Truck Driver and helped with the remodeling of the Barracks at Fort Indiantown Gap.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Mary Tallion, and a brother, James Burke.

Surviving are a daughter, Angelique and husband George Coia of W. Warwick, RI; two sisters, Debbie Miller of Pottsville, Donna Gagnon of Taunton, MA; a brother, Michael and wife Denise Burke of Pine Grove; nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 4:00 P.M.at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, with Pastor Larry Laine officiating. There will be a visitation on Friday, August 23, 2024 from 3:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.at the Funeral Home.

Grace R. Kimmel
, 95, of Rock, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Sch. East, Pottsville.

Born on October 30, 1928 in Rock, she was a daughter of the late Levi H. and Jennie G. Heinbach Krammes.

She was a member of Manbeck's Zion EC Church, Schuylkill Haven.

Grace graduated from Empire Beauty School, Pottsville and owned and operated her own beauty salon for 26 years at her home in Rock.

She was a member and past matron of the former Mary E. Moore, Chapter 374 Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Tremont Senior Citizens.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Willis E. Kimmel, a daughter, Betty Lou Reed; three sisters, Rose Yeich, Mary Ellen Schaeffer, and Betty Hikes; six brothers, Kermit, Walter, George, Clark, Paul, and Joseph Krammes.

Surviving are a son Willis Todd and wife Betsy Kimmel of Pine Grove; four grandchildren, Morgan and husband Keith Gillespie of New Mexico, Kacie and husband Alex Harris of Indiana, Joel and Benjamin Reed; three great grandchildren, Shelby, Joel Jr. and Shawn Reed; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, with Pastors Kyle Roth and Norman Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in Manbeck's Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to Manbeck's Zion EC Church Memorial Fund c/o Deborah Reiter, 159 Spittler Rd., Pine Grove, PA 17963 in her memory.

Charlotte A. Solt
, 83, of Tamaqua, West Penn Township, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, in her home. She was the wife of the late Luther Solt, who died on May 6, 2021. They were married on June 6, 1959, and celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing. Charlotte worked in real estate for 35 years and started her own real estate company, Charlotte A. Solt Real Estate Company, located on Center Street, Tamaqua. She turned her business over to her two associates and retired August 8, 2013. Previously she worked at several garment factories. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Gertrude (Kistler) Miller. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church, West Penn.

Charlotte was a 1958 graduate of Tamaqua High School. Charlotte and her husband were members of the BMW, and the Retread Motorcycle Clubs, and toured many states together. Surviving are a son, Craig L. and his wife, Sallie, of Slatington; granddaughter, Kara, wife of Joshua Richardson, of Slatington; great granddaughter, Samantha Richardson; brother, Terry Miller, and his wife Lauri, of Tamaqua; sister, Karen, wife of Gerald Diehl, of Lehighton; sister-in-law, Kay Miller, of Tamaqua; three godchildren, Connie Diehl, Tracy Smith, and Dr. Jason Fritz; and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Solt, sister, Joyce Steigerwalt, and brother, Arnold Miller. At Charlotte’s request, there will be no funeral service. Private interment at St. Peter’s Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Church, West Penn, 184, St. Peter’s Rd, Tamaqua, Pa 18252. Arrangements are being handled by the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, Rte. 309, New Ringgold.
