The small community of Barnesville, Pennsylvania bids farewell to one of its brightest young souls, Hannah Marie Bennett. Hannah's journey on this earth came to a sudden unexpected close on August 19th 2024. Leaving behind a legacy of kindness, creativity and a profound love for animals and people alike.
Born in Pottsville on October 23rd 2001, she was the only daughter to Alison Grutza and James Bennett.

Hannah was a 2020 High School graduate of Marian Catholic High School. She was a feisty, energetic, hilarious, outspoken girl who would do anything for anyone. She had a crazy silly sense of humor and an infectious laugh that would light up a room. She loved spending time with her family. Her absolute love in life was the love and compassion for animals. Hannah had a husky named Keena, and for anyone who seen or knew Hannah known how inseparable they were. If she could she would have adopted every single animal she ever came across. Hannah was a whiz at computers, she loved gaming, particularly with her younger brother. She enjoyed trips with her grandparents, taking walks with her sister and their dogs, four wheeling, swimming, reading, and hanging out with her mom and dad. She was over-the-moon excited that this coming November she would become an Auntie for the first time.

Unfortunately she had known tragedy all to well and in her senior year of high school lost one of the most important people, her most beloved and closest friend, and began dealing with depression which quickly led into drug addiction. All Hannah wanted was her normal life back and to be free from the chains of addiction. Even with the massive amount of support from her family and periods of sobriety, her addiction was too much for her to overcome. Hannah never wanted to be defined by her addiction and mistakes, she was so much more than that. She was a sister, a niece, a granddaughter, a cousin, a friend and a daughter, and my everything. We are all so very proud of you and now your chains are gone and God has set you free.

Hannah is preceded in death by her great grandparents Peter and Ann Zelonis and her great grandfather Jack Grutza and a great uncle Gary Grutza.
She is survived by her mother Alison Grutza, father James Bennett, her younger sister Kamryn Smith, younger brother Jacob Petritsch. Her maternal Grandparents John and Marie Grutza, and paternal grandparents Michael and Pearl Long, and her great grandmother Helen Grutza. Uncles John, Brian and Gary Grutza, and Joseph Pecika and Cody Long, along with cousins and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 10 AM at Divine Mercy Church, 232 West Cherry Street, Shenandoah, with Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
