William L Edmonds,
102 years old, born and raised in Tamaqua Pennsylvania. In 1982 he moved to St Pete's Florida. William went “Safely Home” to his Heavenly Father July 29th 2024, surrounded by his loved ones at the time of his passing.

Born Wednesday, July 19, 1922 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania the son of the late William H., and Minnie (Collins) Edmonds. William was also predeceased by; wife, Marie (Derr) Edmonds; daughter, Evelyn Edmonds; sons, William Edmonds, Raymond Edmonds; grandson, Nicholas Zeigler; sisters, Mary Herring, Gladys Brode, Evelyn Miller, Bertha K. Yemm, Phyllis Theodore; brothers, Herbert, and Wilbur Edmonds.

He is survived by; his daughter, Jessica (Edmonds) Zeigler and her husband Marlin; grandchildren, Thomas Edmonds and companion Barbara Engler, Lisa Woods husband Henry, Denise Sauers, husband Michael, Nathan Zeigler, wife Jessica. Nolan Zeigler, wife Lindsey. Alexander Zeigler and his princess Alexis Zeigler; 11 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. As well as many nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A 1940 Tamaqua High School graduate, He was a World War II veteran, and an original member of the USS Intrepid. The USS Intrepid saw a multitude number of battles during the war. On July 13th 2024, an article was published to honor William L Edmonds remembering his “Darkest Day” on the USS Intrepid. He was eternally grateful to be recognized as a strong fighter and hero during World War II. Returning home to Tamaqua, William worked at Atlas Powder Co. in Clamtown from 1944 to 1982. A longtime devoted member of the Primitive Methodist Church in Tamaqua, Williams devoted his life to our Lord. In his youth he enjoyed fishing trips to Canada.

Celebration of Williams life will be held at the Primitive Methodist Church located at 57 Hunter Street Tamaqua Pennsylvania on Friday August 30, 2024 at 11 o'clock A.M. Friends may call in church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.

Graveside burial Odd Fellows Cemetery with full military honors bestowed to respect and recognize Navy Veteran, William L Edmonds.

Memorial in William's name to the Primitive Methodist Church.

Shelia Jane Jones
, beloved mother and sister, 68 years of age, of Brockton, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully to be with our heavenly father on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Born Wednesday, June 13, 1956 in Newark, New Jersey the daughter of the late John S., and Alice L. (Blasko) Yanacek, Sheila was also predeceased by; brother, John R. "Ricky" Yanacek.

Surviving are; daughter, Jillian Wirth and companion Regis Stiffler, and his children Kendall, Addison and Mason of Middletown; son, David Wirth and his companion Doug Kehl of New Ringgold; brother, David L. Yanacek of South Tamaqua; sister, Nancy Ann Yanacek of Ashland.

Born into a family of strong Catholic faith and hard work in Middlesex County, New Jersey, she was a graduate of Woodbridge Senior High School. Sheila earned her B.S. in chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Lowell Campus. She moved with her children to Philadelphia in the late 1980s, then to Brockton in 1993 where she last resided, always sharing her residences with beloved pets. Sheila retired from Versum Materials / Merck (Germany), formerly Air Products & Chemicals of Tamaqua having worked as an Analytical Support Technician.

Sheila was a true lover of nature and weather; she loved snow in the winter and flowers in the spring. She loved to cook and bake, especially during the holidays, her favorite being Christmas. She loved concerts, playing music, watching and attending sporting events, reality TV and game shows. Sheila was a lover of all animals, and always rescued her pets from shelters. Always bright and happy in spirit, Sheila loved wearing her unique and flashy jewelry and her vivacious nature always made her the life of the party wherever she went.

Walter J. “Gator” Sponhouse, Jr.
, 68, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday, August 22nd, at LVHN Cedar Crest.

Gator was born in Pottsville, Pa. on July 21, 1956, a son of the late Loretta (McNulty) and Walter J Sponhouse, Sr. He was a Carpet Installer by trade. He was a member of the North Ward Social Club as well as the Rainbow Hose Co., both of Schuylkill Haven. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Ann Yeager and a brother Michael Guzick. 

Gator is survived by his partner of 38 years, Kathleen (Brennan) Staller, a daughter, Sarah Staller and her companion, Chrissy Gonzalez. He is also survived by three sisters, Irene, wife of Sterling Santee, Loretta, wife of Michael Skoufalos , and Kathleen, widow of Thomas "Dinker" Adamchick, and a stepbrother, Vince Kane. Also survived by nieces and nephews. All Services are private at the convenience of family.

Josh E. Wasilius, 46, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024. Born in Wilkes Barre, September 22, 1977, he is the son of Brenda Wasilius Pritchard, Schuylkill Haven, and Edwin Wasilius, Wilkes Barre. Josh was a graduate of Dallas High School, Dallas, Pa., class of 1996. He was employed for A. J. Widows Solutions, Shoemakersville, as a salesman.

Survivors, in addition to his parents.

Nephew: Gage Wasilius, Wyoming, PA

Uncle and Aunt: Glen and Shirley Hughes, Bowling Green, KY

Step Father: Scott Pritchard, husband of Brenda, Schuylkill Haven

The funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family.
