He was born on August 21, 1933, in Matamoras, PA the son of the late Bishop S. Landis and Mary E. (Long) Landis.
His wife of 62 years Shirley (Rummel) Landis preceded him in death in 2018.
He is survived by his son Douglas, Jr (Kim) of Halifax, a daughter Kimbra Landis of Halifax, grandchildren Nathan, Tyler, Arie Anne, Christian, Isaac, Abigail, Daniel and Dylan, and 6 great grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Millersburg High School in 1951. He was a marketing representative for Penn National Insurance Company from 1951-1994. He worked for Ohio National Insurance from 1994-1995. Then he went to Harleysville Insurance from 1995-2002.
He owned a farm in Powells Valley. He was also part owner of Triple L Service Station and a tax collector for 18 years.
He was a member of the Paxton Bible Church, the Sparks Club and was a Neighborhood Commissioner for the Boy Scouts. He was a Dauphin County Committeeman and volunteered at Camp Hebron.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. he was a member of the Tri-Valley Hunting Club.
The hobbies he loved were bowling, hiking, playing cards, and creating memories with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024 at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Ltd. - Millersburg from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. Private graveside services will be held at Bowerman's Cemetery, Enterline.
