The Shenandoah Rescue Hook and Ladder Block Party kicked off yesterday, and it was off to a great start!
The festivities began at lunchtime on Friday, where a line quickly formed as people eagerly waited to get their hands on some delicious bleenies and other tasty treats. The day may have been hot and muggy, but the cold beer was a perfect way to keep cool.
As the evening rolled in, the excitement only grew. Fire apparatus from around Schuylkill County gathered to participate in the annual fire truck parade. At exactly 7:30 PM, the Hookies' Tiller and Ladder truck proudly led the parade from their station on North Main Street, winding through the borough with flashing lights and sirens.
The block party is more than just food and parades. There are plenty of games and activities for everyone, including outdoor bingo. The fun continues all weekend long, running through Saturday and Sunday, so there's still time to join in on the festivities.
