A Shenandoah man is facing charges for sexual extortion.
According to court documents, Jacob Hernandez, 22, of Shenandoah, has been charged by Butler Township Police with sexual extortion, selling obscene/sexual materials, invasion of privacy, unlawful dissemination of intimate images, and harassment involving lewd or threatening images.
In an affidavit, filed by Officer John Kaczmarczyk, on August 23rd, 2023, Butler Township Police received a report that Hernandez sent lewd photographs and videos through Instagram of an ex-girlfriend to her family members and new boyfriend.
Hernandez had also allegedly contacted the victim and told her that if she did not send him money, he threatened to send the videos to more people.
Through questioning and a search warrant of Hernandez's phone, the alleged messages as well as other messages that were sent through Facebook messenger.
On August 26th, 2024, Officer Kaczmarczyk filed the above charges through Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli's office.
Hernandez is scheduled to appear before Judge Tarantelli for a preliminary hearing on September 25th, 2024.
