Earlier Friday, around 1:00 PM, Schuylkill County experienced a much-needed rainfall, but it came in an unexpected and intense burst.
Storms swept through the area, delivering nearly two inches of rain in less than an hour. The rapid downpour led to minor flooding in various parts of the county. Blocked drains and water-covered roadways prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Advisory for Schuylkill County. The advisory remained in effect until 3:15 PM this afternoon.
Some power outages were reported with the largest outage being reported in East Union Township where over 800 homes are left in the dark. Parts of Frackville and Wayne Township also reported outages.
There is a slim chance for a shower or storm Friday evening but nothing we should change our plans for.
