Stuff the Bus Fills 2,000 Backpacks for Schuylkill County Students

A local initiative is making a big difference in the lives of Schuylkill County students.

The annual Stuff the Bus campaign has once again been a resounding success.

For 22 years, the Schuylkill United Way has been collecting school supplies to help local students start the school year off right. This year's campaign was no exception.

On Monday, 2,000 backpacks filled to the brim with new school supplies were packed up and ready to be distributed to 10 partner agencies and 19 schools across Schuylkill County. This feat was made possible by the dedication of over 82 volunteers who came together to fill these backpacks.

An additional 56 volunteers contributed over 600 hours throughout the month of July sorting and organizing donated supplies.

Over 70 locations across the county participated in the supply drive, collecting donations from both employees and the public.

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, organizations, and individuals, thousands of students will have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. From crayons and pencils to backpacks and hand sanitizer, these supplies make a real difference.

Kelly Malone, Executive Director of the Schuylkill United Way, says the community's support is overwhelming. "We're so grateful for the outpouring of generosity," she said. "This campaign wouldn't be possible without the hard work of our volunteers and the support of our donors."

And the impact extends far beyond the school supplies. By providing these essentials, the campaign helps alleviate financial burdens on families and ensures that all students have equal opportunities to succeed.
