According to police, 39-year-old Caitlin DiGiovani of Frackville got into an argument with her mother over child custody. The dispute escalated when DiGiovani allegedly sprayed her mother in the face with a fire extinguisher, causing irritation to the woman's face and eyes.
Police say DiGiovani then threw a hand pick at her mother. Before officers arrived, DiGiovani fled the scene.
DiGiovani was arrested on Saturday night and arraigned on charges of simple assault. She was released on unsecured bail of $25,000.
