Driver Flees Scene After Crash Sends Vehicle Into Woods in Butler Township

A driver knocked down a pole, then fled on foot in Butler Township on Thursday morning.

At 6:45am, Thursday, emergency personnel were called to the area   1011 Fountain Street, Butler Township for a report of a crash involving a vehicle into the woods.

Butler Township Police along with Englewood Fire responded to the scene and found a Subaru off the roadway with a pole down and wires across the roadway.

A female passenger in the vehicle was still at the scene but a male driver was reported to have fled on foot.  She sustained minor injuries, was evaluated at the scene and released.

PPL reported that 6 home were without power after the crash.

One lane of Route 61 remained open until PPL arrived and cleared the wires that were down.  The crash also delayed students on their way to school.

Butler Township Police is investigating the crash.
