In a hard-fought and physical contest, the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils triumphed over the North Schuylkill Spartans with a 2-0 win on the road, improving their record to 6-1 on the season.
The match began with a tense and evenly matched first half, where both teams displayed showed their physicality. Neither side managed to break through, and the scoreboard remained blank at halftime.
The deadlock was finally broken just two minutes into the second half when Shenandoah Valley's Sam Mentusky found the back of the net, giving the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead with 38 minutes remaining. The momentum continued in favor of Shenandoah Valley as just over three minutes later, Joan Menjivar doubled their advantage, scoring with 34:50 left on the clock.
North Schuylkill battled hard to get back into the game, but Shenandoah Valley's defense held firm, preserving their two-goal advantage and securing a shutout victory.
With this win, Shenandoah Valley improves to 6-1 on the season. Their upcoming schedule includes a home game against Marian Catholic on September 7th, followed by back-to-back away games at Weatherly on September 10th and Nativity BVM on September 12th.
North Schuylkill, now at 2-2 on the season, will look to bounce back with a trio of away games. They face Jim Thorpe on September 9th, Pine Grove on September 10th, and Marian Catholic on September 12th.
