Minersville Rolls Past Shenandoah Valley


The Minersville Area Battlin' Miners continued their strong start to the high school football season with a 44-0 victory over the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils on Friday night.

Minersville, now 2-0 on the season, while Shenandoah Valley remains in search of their first win under new head coach Dave Bench.

The Battlin' Miners wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Quarterback Dante Carr found wide receiver Logan Hutsko for a 12-yard touchdown pass, followed by a successful two-point conversion run by Jake Kavanaugh. The early strike put Minersville ahead 8-0.

Minersville’s offense kept up the pressure in the first quarter. With 3:37 left, Carr connected with Paiten LaPoint for a 56-yard touchdown, with Jordan Bowers adding the extra point to make it 15-0. Less than a minute later, Kaseem Lofton sprinted 45 yards for another touchdown, and Bowers' kick extended the lead to 22-0 by the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw more of the same as Carr broke free for a 48-yard rushing touchdown just seconds into the period. Another successful PAT by Bowers pushed the score to 29-0. Minutes later, Carr added another score, this time on an 11-yard run, followed by a two-point conversion run by Easton Schultz to make it 37-0.

Carr continued to dominate, capping off the first half with a 26-yard rushing touchdown, his third of the game. Bowers remained perfect on extra points, putting Minersville ahead 44-0 at halftime.

The second half saw no additional points, but Minersville’s defense held strong to preserve the shutout. With the victory, Minersville improves to 2-0 and will return home next Friday to face Mahanoy Area.

Meanwhile, the Blue Devils of Shenandoah Valley, now 0-2, will regroup and prepare for their next matchup as they travel to Schuylkill Haven to take on the Hurricanes. Coach Dave Bench and his team are still seeking their first win of the season and under his leadership.
