The pedestrian that was fatally struck in Tamaqua early Monday morning has been identified.
According to Schuylkill County Coroner's Office officials, 45-year-old James McDonald was identified as the victim that died after being struck around 4:30am along Route 209 near 1299 East Broad Street.
McDonald was pronounced at the scene by the Schuylkill County Coroner's Office at 6:08am.
McDonald had no known address.
Tamaqua Police say after being dispatched to the scene; they found a man lying in the roadway. The driver and vehicle involved stayed at the scene.
Route 209 was closed while the Pennsylvania State Police Forensics team assisted with the investigation at the scene.
The roadway reopened around 7:00am.
