Pottsville Police and Schuylkill County Drug Task Force Bust Meth Dealer


Pottsville Police busted a methamphetamine dealer on Wednesday.

According to Pottsville Police, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 members of the Pottsville Bureau of Police Narcotics Unit, and members of the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force were observing Devon Culbert, age 28, or Pottsville, after learning Culbert was selling Methamphetamine in the city. 

The surveillance team observed Culbert meet an individual behind the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. The officers then observed a hand-to-hand transaction between Culbert and the other individual.

Culbert was detained, and then taken into custody. During a search incident to arrest, he was found to be in possession of a quantity of cash that he later confessed to receiving from the meeting behind the Kentucky Fried Chicken, after selling a quantity of Methamphetamine.

After being read his Miranda warning, Culbert stated he was selling methamphetamine in the Pottsville area from June 2024 to present, including on this date. During that time, he estimated he made dozens of sales of methamphetamine in various quantities. He reported that his purpose of selling was to make money in order to get by as he was basically homeless. Culbert stated he normally used his cell phone to arrange the transactions. A consent search of his phone revealed conversations and photos consistent with drug sales.

Based upon the facts and observations of this date, Corporal Messner charged Devon Culbert with delivery of a controlled substance (F), possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (F), possession of a controlled substance (M), possession of drug paraphernalia (M),and criminal use of a communication facility (F3). 

Culbert was arraigned before Magistrate Reiley and remanded to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $20,000.00 straight cash bail
