Carol A. Weiss (Seitzinger)
passed away on September 3, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Carol was a kind soul and persistent in being one of the nicest people on the planet. She graduated from Pottsville High School in 1967 and obtained an MBA from DeSales University. Carol was a long time employee at PPL.

Some the the things she enjoyed were walking, driving her Audi, baking, listening to music from the 60s, and her favorite group was Hall & Oates.

She is survived by a son, grandson, two sisters, two nieces, and one nephew.

A celebration of life event will be planned for the coming months.

Karen Lee Moyer
, 73, of Orwigsburg, passed away Saturday, September 7th, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Karen was born in Pottsville on October 18, 1950, a daughter of the late Ethel (Shipe) Reilly and Simon DeLong. She was the widow of Martin " Chico" S. Moyer.

She graduated from Pottsville Area High School and received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Shippensburg University. She was a classroom teacher and librarian at Pine Grove Area Elementary for 36 years, retiring in 2007.

Karen enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was active at Landingville Fire Company and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Melinda Trezise, of Orwigsburg and her son,Bradly Moyer, husband of Yulibel; grandchildren Reilly, Reagan, and Reese Trezise and Christopher and Jackson Moyer, her ward, Abagail Delong-Jones of Orwigsburg, sister, Diane, wife of Tom Hauptly, of Pottsville; brother, Roger, husband of Debbie DeLong, of Lenhartsville, brother-in-law John Kemple as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by sisters Nadine Moyer, Charlene Kemple and Faith DeLong

A public viewing will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, September 12th at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg.

A Religious Service will be held at on Friday, September 13th at 12 noon at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, PA with Pastor James R. Fidler officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 AM. Interment immediately following at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Inc. Schuylkill Haven, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Landingville Fire Company, 1 Firehouse Road, Landingville, PA 17972 or the Orwigsburg Public Library, 216 W. Independence Street, Orwigsburg, PA 17961.

Susan F. (Wyluda) Probition
, 68, of Shenandoah Heights passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in her home.

Born on July 18, 1956 at the former Locust Mountain Hospital, Shenandoah Heights, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Anna A. “Annie” (Concatella) Wyluda.

Sue was a 1974 graduate of the former Cardinal Brennan High School, Fountain Springs. She also graduated from Penn State University, Schuylkill Campus.

Early in life, she was employed at the Schuylkill County Court House. She was currently employed as a front desk agent at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Frackville. Sue was known to many as the “Avon Lady”.

On July 29, 1978 in the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Shenandoah, she married Joseph M. Probition Jr. who preceded her in death on April 30, 2023.

Suzie was a talented musician, having been the organist in many local churches. For many years, she played for her lifelong home parish, the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Shenandoah. Currently, she was an organist for her current parish, Divine Mercy Parish and also played for Trinity United Church of Christ (UCC) both in Shenandoah.

She was well known for cooking and preparing Italian dishes, not only for family and friends but also as a volunteer for numerous church festivals, dinners, block parties and food sales. Sue actively volunteered and cooked for the annual Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She was instrumental in the success of the 100th anniversary celebration held in 2014. She continuously supported her parish by “cooking all hours of the night” with her cousin, Ann Lehman.

Sue never met a stranger and could talk for hours on end with anyone. She was loud, honest, opinionated, and always had a great time. She never missed a birthday, holiday, or celebration, and always made sure to bring dessert. There truly will never be another Sue.

Surviving are her son, Joseph M. Probition, III and his wife Geneva of Catasauqua; her beloved dog Freya, one niece, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Kenneth Nally, 62, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 4th, 2024. 

Born on December 18th, 1961 to the son of Dennis Nally and Mary Burd in Reading Pennsylvania. Ken was a 1979 graduate of Reading High School and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Ken was a carpenter by trade and often had a side business painting He loved the beach and day trips to the lake. He was a huge music enthusiast, especially Classic Rock. 

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brother Michael Lisowski, his son Kenneth Michael Patrick, and his granddaughter Ella Rae Seiders. 

Ken is survived by a daughter Shannon Seiders and husband Tyler, Pottsville; stepson John Zelinsky and wife Jolly, Alaska; stepson William "Bill" Zelinsky, Port Carbon; a sister Jennifer Semar and husband Dave, Camp Hill; a niece Colleen Kelly, New Cumberland; nephew Micahel Lisowski;p great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. 

The family will be holding a graveside service in Ken's honor with full military honors on September 12th, 2024 at 11:30AM at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA.

James R. Somers, 92, of Pottsville passed away while a resident of Green Valley Nursing Home in Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, September 30, 1931, he was the son of the late George and Gertrude Penberth Somers.

James was a 1950 graduate of Pottsville Area High School. After graduating high school Jim entered the United States Air Force where he served four years. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, Jim attended Ford Business School in Pottsville.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville.

Jim started working for Keystoker as a bookkeeper after graduating from business school. He worked his way to the top and had an opportunity to purchase the business and become owner. Jim ran the business for over 60 years until he was no longer able to do so.

Jim was an avid softball player and excelled as a pitcher. He also enjoyed bowling in his spare time.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Wingle and Kathleen Somers and a brother Robert Somers.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ann Marie. He is also survived by his brother Gerald Somers husband to Dorothy, Allentown, George Somers husband to Brenda, Phoenix Park, Patricia Boran, wife of Bernard of Orwigsburg. He is also survived by his niece and caretaker Kimberly Flaim along with other nieces and nephews and cousins.

A viewing will be held on Friday, Sept. 13th at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven at 10:00 A.M. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Ann Marie Somers, 86, of Pottsville, entered into the arms of Jesus on Monday after a short stay at Green Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation and only 3 days after her husband James passed at the same facility.

Born in Mahanoy City on May 12th 1938, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Reing McElheny.

Ann Marie was a graduate from Mahanoy Township school class of 1955. After graduation she worked at the former Janawitz factory as a button holer.

Ann Marie love for Polka brought her to meet the love of her life; James Somers whom she met at a polka dance at the Minersville Legion.

Ann Marie married Jim on December 1, 1962, and celebrated 62 years of true love. Although they were not blessed with children of their own, they were a huge part of the lives of their nieces and nephews and all family and friends.

Ann Marie has a strong faith and was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville.

She will be missed by many, especially her niece Kimberly Flaim who was her caregiver until special care was needed for both Ann Marie and Jim.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her sisters Elizabeth Dillman and Margie Paletskie

Ann Marie is survived by her sister Kathy Forke of Quakake. In addition to Kim she is also survived by other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A joint viewing with Jim will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven. Joint funeral services will begin at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Ann Marie and Jim will be laid to rest on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
