Eleanor Scarbinsky, 87, of Minersville, passed away Saturday evening at her home

Born in Minersville, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Snikosky Scarbinsky.

She lived in Minersville all her life. She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Minersville and a member of St. Matthew’s Church of Holy Family Parish, Minersville..

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dolores Chewcaskie.

She is survived by her brother Robert Scarbinsky of Ozark, Ala.; 4 nephews, Stephen and Brian Chewcaskie and Kevin and Kraig Scarbinsky; a niece Sheryl Baxley; 3 great nephews, Dylan Chewcaskie, Kaiser and Kanon Scarbinsky; a great niece , Briana Chewcaskie.

Services will be Friday at 11AM at the Donald J. Butler Funeral home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville. Rev. Leo J. Maletz will officiate. .Relatives and friends can call at the Funeral Home on Friday morning from 10AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus #2 Cemetery, Minersville.

Edwin Martin Stolarick
, 96 of Pine Grove, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Seton Manor Nursing & Rehab Center, Orwigsburg.

Born on October 16, 1927, in Lehman Township, PA, he was a son of the late Joseph C. and Mabel E. Sutliff Stolarick. An only child, he fondly recalled helping his father and uncles with farm work and caring for their horses.

Edwin was a 1945 graduate of Lehman High School. While attending school, he played football and basketball. He was also a member of the high school band, playing both the clarinet and the saxophone.

He met Ruth Shellhamer, and they married in 1951. Together they had two children, Catherine and Kenneth. After working as a delivery driver for a local oil company, Edwin accepted a position as manager of Agway Petroleum in Schuylkill County. He moved his family to Pine Grove in 1965. There he assisted with Little League and Boy Scouts, and joined the Swopes Valley Gun Club. He later became an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, and served on the church council. He was also a member of the Pine Grove Masonic Lodge #409 F. & A.M.

Edwin was an avid Phillies fan, enjoyed spending time outdoors, and loved playing golf in his retirement years. He will be best remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed sharing folksy wisdom and advice, and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, and son Kenneth.

Surviving are his daughter, Catherine Stolarick; daughter-in-law, Sandra Stolarick; granddaughter Emily Stormont and husband Ian; grandson Joe Stolarick and wife Andrea Meynard; great-grandchildren, James Stormont, Isabelle Stormont, and George Stolarick.

A service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations be made to St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church General Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963 in his memory.

The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc, Pine Grove is in charge of arrangements.

Carol Harig
, 79, of Burke, VA, passed away Thursday, September 19th, at Adler Center for Caring on the Van Metre Campus, Virginia.

Carol was born in Sulphur Springs, TX on November 6, 1944, a daughter of the late Frankie (Long) and Charles Irwin Robertson.

She was the wife of Gary M. Harig. They were married on August 27, 1966.

She was employed as a Dietitian. When her youngest son Jeffrey started school, she became involved in teaching.

In addition to Gary, her husband of 58 years, Carol is survived by
two daughters, Lisa, wife of William Tucker, and
Amy Harig and also a son, Andrew Harig.

She is also survived by her Grandchildren Cooper Aaron, Morgan Aaron, and Hannah Tucker.

She was predeceased by her son Jeffrey Cole Harig on December 6th, 2023.

A Religious Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 26th at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, PA with Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM.

Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Inc. Schuylkill Haven.

Edward G. Reichwein, 92, of Main Street, Locustdale, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Shamokin Geisinger Community Hospital, Coal Township.

The Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, will announce funeral arrangements.

Joseph J. Sborz
, 72, of Berwick, formerly of Minersville, passed away Wednesday, September 18th, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. 

Joe was born in Schweinfurt Germany, on August 2, 1952, a son of the late Greta (Daleis) and John A Sborz. He was the husband of Nancy A. (Pellish) Sborz. He was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. A graduate of M.A.H.S. Class of 1970 and of the Pennsylvania State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering He served in the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War. Joe was an Electrical Engineer at both the Susquehanna and Limerick Nuclear Plants. Joe enjoyed woodworking and making Christmas decorations. He was an avid volunteer of the Berwick Y.M.C.A. 

Joe is survived by his wife, Nancy, two sons, Aaron Sborz and his companion Kristen, Nicholas, husband of Ashley Sborz He is also survived by a sister, Eileen, wife of David Gonzales, four brothers, David, husband of Nancy Sborz, John, husband of Tina Sborz, Ron, husband of Patty Sborz, and Fran, husband of Tarja Sborz 

Also surviving are his grandchildren; Griffin, Eden, Lillian, Payton, Hunter, & Wyatt. 

Visitation will be held 8:30 to 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 24th at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc. in Minersville. A Catholic Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 with Reverend Jason F. Stokes of the Holy Family Parish officiating. 

Interment Mount Peace Cemetery In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name to the Berwick Area YMCA 231 W. 3rd St, Berwick, PA 18603.
