Paul Smulligan
, 86, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Wednesday, September 18th, at Lehigh Valley East Norwegian, Pottsville.

Paul was born in Vulcan, PA on April 5, 1938, a son of the late Arvesta (Houser) and George Smulligan.

He graduated from Mahanoy Township High School class of 1956.

He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church Mahanoy City.

He worked for the Mahanoy City Cigar Plant for many years and retired from Air Products Hometown.

He was husband of the late Barbara (Schappell) Smulligan.

Paul is survived by a daughter, Julia Lee, wife of Jerome Petritsch, of Elkmont, AL; a sister, Theresa Urso, of Lansford, and by 2 Grandchildren Jennifer and Jacob, and a Great Grandson Owen Paul, Nieces and Nephews.

He is preceded in death by Brothers George Jr, Andrew, Frank Peter, Augustine, John and Sisters Helen Geist, Elizabeth Sabol, Mary Sekella, Olga Adair, Catherine Brandt, and Bertha Loftus.

Office of Christian Burial and Divine Liturgy at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 27th, with Rev. James Carroll officiating.

Friend and family may call Friday 9:30-10:30 AM at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Skyview Memorial Park Tamaqua, PA.

Robert J. "Tank" Porter, Jr.
, 76 of Pottsville, died peacefully Friday at home.

He was born February 10, 1948, in Pottsville a son of late Robert J. Sr. and Agatha Fleischhut.

He was a graduate of Nativity BVM High School.

Prior to retiring Tank owned and operated Tank's Machine and Hydraulic Shop, he also worked for Ost & Ost for 40 years and Hexcel for 10 years.

Tank was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville; Knights of Columbus Council #431, Pottsville; St. Bernard's Beneficial Society and was a life member of Yorkville Hose Fire Co, Pottsville.

Throughout his life Tank loved car's, airplanes and anything to do with Hydraulics.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years Mary Becker Porter; a son Robert J. Porter, III, Schuylkill Haven; a sister, Barbara Cielinksi, Mechanicsburg; a close friend Dean Kinsinger, Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and Interment in St. John No. 2 Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Tank be made to St. John Memorial Fund 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901 or St. Joseph's Indian School 1301 N. Main St. Chamberlain, SD 57325.

Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.

Lois M. Miller
, 83, of Wild Cherry Rd., Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 in Providence Place, Pine Grove.

Born on January 5, 1941 in Summit Station, she was a daughter of the late Roy Sr. and June Freeman Hiester.

Lois was a Seamstress and worked for the former Argo Mills.

She was a member of Salem Hetzel's UCC.

Preceding her in death were her husband Earl I Miller, and two grandsons, Matthew and Charles Miller.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra and husband Craig Lehman of Schuylkill Haven; a son, Ronald and wife Melissa Miller of Pine Grove; two granddaughters, Keisha Miller and Holly Lehman; three grandsons, Chad Lehman, Kwentin Miller and Isaiah Miller; two great grandchildren, Ava Stoddart and Cody Lehman; a brother, Roy Jr. and wife Judith Hiester of Pine Grove.

All Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Salem Hetzel's Cemetery, Pine Grove.

The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove is in charge of arrangements.

Kim S. Kropp, 67 of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at her home in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

Born Thursday, September 27, 1956 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of Harry Karl and Joan Dolores (Schlosser) Snyder.

Kim was a Tamaqua High School Graduate and worked as a secretary. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Surviving are son, David Kotansky and his fiancé Amber of Nesquehoning, PA, sister, Suzanne T. Blanchard, a niece, nephew and cousins.

Kenneth A. Grimm
, 67, of Williamstown, passed away early Sunday morning, September 22, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pottsville.

Born on Saturday, July 27, 1957 in Sheridan, a son of the late Earl and Wilhelmenia Hawk Grimm.

Kenny was a 1975 graduate of Williams Valley High School and a graduate of Penn State University.

He was last employed as a truck driver with Franzosa Trucking Inc. He was also the owner of Grimmy's Mobile BBQ.

He was of the Methodist Faith.

Kenny will be remembered for his outgoing personality. To name a few of his hobbies, he enjoyed cooking, fishing, spending time at his camp in Newport, and riding his Harley Davidson. Kenny could often be found singing and playing his guitar and harmonica.

He is survived by his two sons, Nicholas Grimm (Abby), Wiconisco, and Joshua Grimm, Williamstown; his five grandchildren, Paisley, Aaiden, Amelia, Charlie, and Kamran; a sister, Elaine Umholtz (Ron), Williamstown; brothers, James Grimm (Joyce), Indiana, Earl Grimm (Maureen), Florida, William Grimm, Bethlehem, Dennis Grimm, Muir, and Timothy Grimm (Joann), Allentown; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

A Celebration of Kenny's life will be held on Thursday, September 26th at 7:00 pm from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City, with Pastor William Romberger officiating. A visitation will be from 6-7 at the chapel.

Jack H. Richards, 67, of South Tamaqua, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, in his home. 

Prior to retiring, he was employed as a restaurant manager at the former Shawnee Restaurant, Easton. 

Jack enjoyed online gaming and karaoke along with a good cup of coffee. He is survived by his son, Anthony, also of South Tamaqua; and a brother. Private service at the convenience of the family. 

Arrangements are being handled by the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, Rte. 309, New Ringgold.
