Stephen J. Koval
, 72, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Saturday, September 21st.

Stephen was born in Mahanoy City, PA on April 12, 1952, a son of the late June (Phillips) and Stephen Koval.

He graduated from Mahanoy Area High School Class of 1970.

He worked for Conrail, Reading Anthracite, and prior to his retirement in 2018 he was a welder for Trackbuilders, in Mechanicsburg. After his retirement, he was a courier for Concept Medical in Ashland.

He was a hard working husband, father, and grandfather all his life, up until his tragic passing.

He could always be found outside whether it was clearing snow around his neighborhood on his beloved Kubota, cutting grass, and also known to have the cleanest cars in Schuylkill County. He volunteered his time to the up keep of the Mahanoy City Little League field.

He was an avid Phillies fan and Penn State football fan.

He will always be remembered as a hardworking man. He will truly be missed by all those who have had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was the husband of Mary (Steiner) Koval with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of Marriage on Oct 26th.

Stephen is also survived by a daughter, Erin, wife of Brian Thiroway, of Frackville; two sons Stephen Jr., of Shenandoah; Justin, husband of Rebekah, of Barnesville.

Stephen is also survived by our sisters, Carla, wife of Andy Gnall, of Calif; Kathy, wife of Lance Edwards, of AZ; Joyce, wife of Dave Dougherty, of Downingtown; Cindy, wife of Robert Rosso, of SC.; two brothers, Frank, husband of Linsey Seltzer, of Numidia; Eric, husband of Roxanne Seltzer, of Frackville.

He is also survived by 3 Grandchildren Wyatt & Scarlett Koval, and Julia Thiroway. Numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his sister Peggy Crim and Stepfather Frank Seltzer.

Friends and family may call Saturday 9 to 11 AM at the Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc.

Interment will follow at the German Protestant Cemetery Association Mahanoy City, PA.

Walter G. “Butch” Furer
of Orwigsburg passed away at home on Saturday September 21st, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Darnell Furer (Farley). They recently celebrated 26 years of marriage.

Butch was born on December 17, 1941 in Tarentum PA. He attended The Kiski School in Pittsburgh, PA and Salem College in West Virginia. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era where he was stationed in France and participated in Operation Silk Purse initiative.

Butch was a successful businessman for over 60 years. He was the owner of Butch Furer and Daughter Building Products and Flight Line Aviation. In addition he was a co-owner and Vice President of LTL Home Products and Country Chevrolet. He served on numerous community boards, and was a Master Mason and Shriner.

Butch was one of the best people God put on this planet. A genuine mix of kindness, generosity, street smarts, fun and devotion to his family. Every single person who had the privilege of knowing Butch, is better for it. He was truly one of a kind.

He loved traveling, cooking chicken soup for his family, working on construction and renovation projects, airplanes of all kinds, and his faithful Labrador Retriever Yowser.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Tara Furer-Romig (Timothy), Orwigsburg, PA, Rebecca Caplan (Sloan) of Lititz, PA, Ashley Russo (Peter) of Orwigsburg, PA, and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by first his wife, Nancy Furer(Norman) and also his parents George Pyle and Mildred Furer.

Our family will always treasure the positive influence he had on our lives and the expert counsel he so willingly provided.

So in the words of a friend, “Butch had a life to be celebrated – not a death to be mourned.”

There will be an evening visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25th at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, PA.

A Religious Service will be held on Thursday morning at 10:30 AM September 26th at St. John's United Church of Christ in Orwigsburg, PA with Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating.

The public is also invited to visit from 9:00 until time of service, in the church. Interment will be private

David Kranch
, 60 of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024 surrounded by his family at St Luke's Hospice, Bethlehem, PA as a result of serious injuries sustained in a tractor accident on August 17, 2024.

Born Thursday, July 16, 1964 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Wendell O. "Skip" Kranch and Phyliss (Lawson) Kranch.

Dave was a 1982 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School where he studied masonry at Vo Tech. He was employed as a Production Technician at Mack Trucks, Macungie, PA. Dave's passion was time spent outdoors, especially while hunting with his son Keith. Dave loved his grandkids and enjoyed adventures with them.

Surviving are son, Keith Kranch and his fiancée Alexis Petrie of Tamaqua, PA, brothers, Christopher Kranch, Wendell Kranch and his wife Ciera and Michael Kranch and his significant other Amanda Schuetrum, sisters, Lisa Kranch and Krystal Sendatch and her husband Rob; 5 grandchildren - Brayton, Annabell, Addison, Vayda and Lakelynn; and his longtime companion Angela Tite. Nieces and nephews also survive Dave.

Services have been entrusted to E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc, 655 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252. 570-668-2550. Friends may call at the funeral home 10 am to 12 pm Thursday September 26, 2024. Funeral services to follow. Interment will be in St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Tamaqua, PA 18252.

Irene A. Yoder
, adored mother, grandmother, great grandmother, 71 years of age of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21st 2024.

Born on Tuesday, July 21st 1953 in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Ohl and Theresa A. (Momrock) Ohl of Tamaqua. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years, Douglas A. Yoder(2007) and her older sister Maryann Ohl(1999).

Surviving are her 3 children; Melisa A. Snyder and her husband Stephen Snyder, Douglas A. Yoder II and his wife Jen Miller, and Nicole M. Yoder. 3 grandchildren; Christine A. Yemm, Aaron M. Miller, and Ryan A. Snyder. 1 great-grandchild; Wyatt D.M. Kerestus.

Of Catholic faith, Irene attended St. Jeromes and later, Tamaqua High School. She worked diligently for Sealey Mattress in Delano, retiring after 25+ years. Irene was as loving as she was stubborn. She enjoyed keeping a meticulous garden, decorating for holidays and was an avid animal lover. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, be it playing with her "little buddy" Wyatt, going to comedy shows, or vacationing. She was deeply loved and admired; she will be greatly and forever missed.

A memorial service for Irene will be held at 6:30 PM Thursday, September 26, 2024 from E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. Friends may call from 5:00PM until time of the service.

Audrey Otto Miller
, 96, a lifelong resident of Tremont, passed away Monday evening, September 23, 2024 with her daughter by her side.

Born in Tremont, April 4, 1928, a daughter of the late Irvin and Carrie Minnich Otto. She was a 1946 graduate of the former Tremont High School.

Following the death of her husband, Audrey held various jobs including those at Freeman's Insurance Agency, The Good Samaritan Hospital, and the Tremont Nursing Home.

She was a faithful and active member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Tremont, where she was the organist for over 67 years. Audrey also was a member of the church council, taught confirmation class, and was on the pastoral search committee. Her life revolved around St. Peter's and the ministry of music that she shared with the congregation.

She also was the organist for several years at St. John's Church Newtown and taught private piano and organ lessons.

Audrey was a member of the former Tremont Women's Club and the Eastern Star Chapter.

She could often be found out and about with her daughter. She enjoyed crosswords, word searches, and taking care of her flower garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carl Miller, 1981; her siblings, Eleanor Enterline, Sara Arnold, Mary Fleming, and Albert, James, Lester, and Charles Otto.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen E. Miller, Tremont; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM from St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Tremont. Viewing will be from 10-11 at the church. She will be laid to rest in the Reformed Cemetery.
