Naomi W Bixler, age 95, of Valley View, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 at her residence.

She was born on Tuesday, August 13, 1929, in Hegins, a daughter of the late John M Lohr and the late Iva A (Snyder) Lohr.

Naomi was a 1947 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

She was a seamstress in area garment factories prior to her retirement.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins and a member of the United Methodist Women of the church.

Naomi was also a member of the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens and Herndon Senior Citizens.

Her husband, Ralph J Bixler, passed away in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, JuDene A Bixler, and a sister, Arlene Oxenrider.

She is survived by a grandson, Brad R Bixler and his wife Renee of Blossburg; a great grandson, Dalton J Bixler of Hillsgrove; a great granddaughter, Mackenzie E Johnson and her husband Cory of Turbotville; and a sister, Dorothy Wiest of Ephrata.

Services will be held at St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins, on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Benjamin Scholl officiating.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hegins

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc., Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

Carol James
, 79, a resident of Pottsville, passed away on August 29th, 2024.

Carol was born in Pottsville, a daughter of the late William and Frances (Hess) James. She was a graduate of the Pottsville High School, then moved to the Harrisburg area where she worked as a computer system analyst for the Pennsylvania department of Welfare for 30 years. Carol enjoyed shopping, crafts and gardening.

Carol recently moved back to the Pottsville area, where she was cared for by a special niece, Kathy Doran of Pottsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Richard Jame, Kitty James and Bonnie James.

Surviving in addition to her niece and caregiver, Kathy Doran, are her children, William Baskeyfield and his wife Janet of Enola and Marci Leigh Baskeyfield of Harrisburg.

Three grandchildren, Brandon Lee; Richard Damien and Brittany Marie Primrose along with a great grandson, Bennett Lee; A sister, Joanne Eckert and nieces and nephews also survive.

Carol will be laid to rest during private services at the Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery in Pottsville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Pottsville.

Robert F. Margetanski
, 74, of Frackville, went home to be with the Lord, Monday evening, September 2, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown.

Bobby was born, December 15, 1949, in Lykens, a son of the late Joseph and Anna Rose Margetanski Doyle. He was a graduate of Marlin Intermediate School. Despite his lifelong health issues with cerebral palsy, he never let his disability hold him back. He was able to live a self-efficient life, an accomplishment that made his family extremely proud.

Bobby was very active with Avenues of PA, Pottsvile, and retired from Lessie's Garden Greenhouse and Gift Shop. He was formerly a member of the Jaycees. Bobby also belonged to the Foursquare Gospel Church. He had a deep faith in the Lord.

Bobby could often be found listening to his radio, cheering on the Eagles, Phillies and Yankees. He loved his sports. He also was an avid bowler, belonging to numerous bowling leagues and received many trophies.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tim and Joe Doyle.

Surviving are his three sisters, Sue Jones and her husband Ed, Tower City, Rose Challenger, and Kathy Doyle, both of Williamstown; a brother Larry Doyle, Joliett; two nephews and two nieces; three great nieces and two great nephews who he dearly loved.

Bobby will be laid to rest privately in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Williamstown with Pastor Annette Shutt officiating.
