Vote for the Schuylkill League Athlete of the Week

  

Voting is now open for the Schuylkill League's Athlete of the Week.

Each week, each school nominates 1 athlete to the Schuylkill League and nominees are chosen by the league.

The athletes nominated for this week include:

  • Luke Kane - Tamaqua Area Football
    • 10-20 155 yards, 1 TD
    • 8 rushes for 54 yards, 1 TD
    • 7 Tackles
    • Game winning last second TD pass to defeat Pottsville Area 24-21
  • Jake Tom - Marian Catholic Soccer
    • On Tuesday, Jake scored 5 goals, including a penalty kick goal that tied the game in the final minutes.  In OT, he also scored the final goal to win 7-6
  • Caden Mengel - North Schuylkill Football
    • Engineered a 96-yard drive with 1:38 remaining in the game to lead the Spartans to a 31-29 victory over Notre Dame GP.  To win, Mengel threw a 9 yard pass for a TD to Luke Miller as the time expired to win.  Mengel finished with 113 yards passing and a 23 yard TD for a touchdown.
  • Brayden Maksimik - Mahanoy Area Golf
    • Leading the golf team to a 3-0 record last week, including two sudden death playoff victories.  He also shot an 86 in a 370-370 tied.  Won the match with a par on the second playoff hole.  On Wednesday, he shot an 89 in a 361-361 tied and won on the first sudden death playoff with a par.  Then shot an 84 in a 331-490 win later in the week.
