Driver Transported After Fiery Crash in North Union Township

North Union Township, PA — A driver was transported to the hospital following a rollover crash on Mountain Road in North Union Township on Thursday morning.

Emergency dispatchers received the call just before 11:15 a.m., reporting a motor vehicle accident involving a rollover. East Union Township Police arrived at the scene to find the vehicle overturned, fully engulfed in flames, and multiple utility poles and wires down near the border of North Union/East Union Township.

Authorities later learned that the driver managed to crawl out of the wreckage and hitched a ride to Sheppton, where he called 911. Shenandoah Ambulance transported the driver to the hospital. The extent of the driver’s injuries is currently unknown.

Nuremberg-Weston Fire assisted at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police.
