HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Nativity BVM Rolls Over Mahanoy Area

The Nativity BVM Green Wave continued their dominant season on Friday night, cruising past the Mahanoy Area Golden Bears with a 50-8 victory.

The Green Wave, now 6-1 on the season, put on an offensive clinic, powered by standout running back Sam Walborn and a passing attack led by quarterback Ben Kreitzer.

Mahanoy Area, who had begun to turn their season around with consecutive wins over Marian Catholic and Pine Grove, struggled to keep pace with Nativity's relentless offense. The Golden Bears drop to 2-5 and will look to rebound next week when they host Tri-Valley for their Homecoming game.

First Quarter: Nativity Strikes Early and Often

Nativity BVM wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Sam Walborn burst through the defense for a 32-yard touchdown run to put the Green Wave ahead 6-0. While the extra point attempt was no good, Walborn quickly struck again with a 2-yard touchdown, followed by a successful 2-point conversion run by Sam Spolski, extending the lead to 14-0.

Before the first quarter ended, Kreitzer connected with Michael Stank for a 58-yard touchdown pass. Stank capped off the play by running in the 2-point conversion himself, giving Nativity a commanding 22-0 lead after just 12 minutes of play.

Second Quarter: Walborn Leads the Charge

In the second quarter, Nativity continued to exploit Mahanoy Area’s defense. Walborn broke free for two more long touchdown runs, both from 26 yards out, widening the gap to 36-0 after a pair of extra points by Stank.

Mahanoy Area finally got on the board late in the second quarter. Quarterback Levi Terry found Aidan Bowman for a 22-yard touchdown pass, followed by a successful 2-point conversion run by Kyler Quick, bringing the score to 36-8 at halftime.

Third Quarter: Nativity BVM Seals the Game

Nativity BVM came out strong again in the second half, with Walborn adding his fifth touchdown of the night on a 1-yard run early in the third quarter, pushing the lead to 42-8. Later in the quarter, Kreitzer found Noah Dolbin for a 36-yard touchdown pass, followed by a 2-point conversion pass to Stank, sealing the final score at 50-8.

Looking Ahead

With the victory, Nativity BVM improves to 6-1 and will look to keep their momentum going next Friday when they travel to face the Minersville Battlin' Miners.

Meanwhile, Mahanoy Area, now 2-5, will regroup as they prepare for a critical Homecoming matchup against Tri-Valley next Friday.
