The Tri-Valley Bulldogs overpowered the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils with a 42-10 victory on Friday night, improving their record to 5-2 for the season.
The Blue Devils, still searching for their first win, fell to 0-7.
Tri-Valley wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. In the first quarter, Parker Hatter ignited the Bulldogs with a 47-yard sprint to the end zone, followed by a clean extra point from Nathan Hilliard to take a 7-0 lead. The Bulldogs struck again later in the quarter when Cole Gemberling ran 8 yards for another touchdown. Quarterback Blake Schwartz connected with Lucas Schwartz for a successful two-point conversion, extending the lead to 15-0.
Shenandoah Valley responded early in the second quarter with a 30-yard field goal from Sam Mentusky, putting their first points on the board and trimming the deficit to 15-3. However, Tri-Valley quickly regained control as Blake Schwartz launched a 68-yard touchdown pass to Doyle Flory. Though the extra point attempt was unsuccessful, the Bulldogs extended their lead to 21-3.
Shenandoah Valley's Jonnuel Reyes electrified the home crowd on the ensuing kickoff, returning it all the way for a touchdown. Mentusky’s extra point brought the score to 21-10, giving the Blue Devils a glimmer of hope.
But Tri-Valley responded with authority, as Blake Schwartz broke free for a 55-yard touchdown run before the half, with Hilliard adding another extra point to make it 28-10 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Tri-Valley’s offense continued to dominate. Blake Schwartz added another rushing touchdown from the 1-yard line, and later, Gemberling scored again, also from the 1-yard mark, with Hilliard converting both extra points. With the score at 42-10, the Bulldogs coasted through the rest of the game, securing the win.
Shenandoah Valley will look to regroup as they return home next week to face Panther Valley, while Tri-Valley, riding a wave of momentum, will travel to face Mahanoy Area.T
